Day 5! only one more day left........

There is only one more day of workshops!!! I will definitely miss Margaret a lot but I'm really excited to see what everyone has been doing in their workshops. We might not have been taking pictures for the Coo Febs but we might just steal pictures from the photo group. These past workshops have been so much fun it's hard to believe it's over. When everyone goes their separate ways to go to workshops it is like they all have a secret they can't wait to reveal. With only one more day I'm just wondering if we have time to finish our works. Friday is most definitely going to be a busy day.

Day 4: Workshops

Alright so the shared obsession was Dexter and such a coincidence!!On Friday  I had time to work on my paper mache puppet and working and being messy was a lot of fun. Some people hate the feeling but I feel like its a chance to really have fun with what your working with. And not recommend to high five other people if they hate the feeling. Not the best feeling in the world , found out by Mairead and Justin.

Day 3 of workshops!!!!

Today was the third day of workshops and seeing Margaret every time we always learn something new and or have something in common with her. today we found out the she had the same obsession with Molly and Caitlin! At first I thought that we had all the time in the world because we had six weeks of classes but I was way off. We only have six classes to pick the brains of these amazing teachers and every class will pass by so fast.   i hope that in these last classes I would get everything done and be able to loo back and see that  I can accomplish this.

Day 2: workshops

Today we started on our projects out of newspaper and masking tape. Making a puppet is not as easy as it seems. You have to make sure that everything is sturdy and strong so it will not collapse when you put on the paper mache. When you have newspaper it's hard to make the detailed shapes and make it look proportional and smooth. Margaret was amazing and make a simple figure in less then 20 minutes and with only a couple pieces of tape while I on the other hand just kept on wrapping and wrapping.  After three hours I finally got the head and body with legs but still have more to do.

Workshop day one

Today the Coofebs got to meet Margaret DeLima. I at first I thought the she will be so intimidating and all business because her writing makes her sound so intelligent but she was inspiring and had so many great ideas. So the big project that we are doing is going to make an artwork of the seven sins and get to auction them off for a charity event. I've always been into charities and donating so I am looking forward to donating my piece and hope to finish it off. From the art works that she has shown us her work seems to come from childhood memories that seemed to be in her mind.  But one thing she said really stood out to me and is very true. The power of the art seems to dull well you look back. The fire that has you so motivated to make the art fades after a while when you look back at the artwork. Sometimes it is easier to explain the art after you let the fire die down but when you still have the anger or emotion inside your artwork the art seems to be strong and bold like it represents your feelings.
The idea I have its to make the sin of pride be represented through a puppet hanging. Animals can also represent some of the deadly sins. Like a snake for envy or a seagull for gluttony. So the animal for pride would be a peacock. With this puppet I will incorporate some of the peacock features so it will seem like puppet morphed with a peacock to represent pride. From that the meaning is the this sin can only be control by man and how this sin can not work alone.
