Drawing to Paint

You know how people say that tracing is so easy? well, those people have no clue what they are talking about.
Today in art workshops we had drawn in blocks ans shapes instead of drawing for drawing.
It may should complicated but once you find the shades and relation to each other you get the hang of things. The shapes that you draw with charcoal is really just making decisions and not focus on making it look like the features because it will just form into it. I definitely learned that being accurate takes the fun out of the distortion.

  1. Exactly. In fact, the more you just do the shapes, the more it looks like the thing when it is done. Then, you can turn your accuracy on and off at will, or mix it in with anything expressive or distorted you want to add.
